The Arsenal midfielder has a message for the Gunners ahead of their FA Cup clash at Southampton on Saturday evening
Granit Xhaka says he will be supporting his Arsenal team-mates at Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round as the defensive midfielder starts his four-game suspension this weekend.
The Switzerland international was dismissed for a straight red card after a two-footed challenge on Belgian midfielder Steven Defour during the second half of their 2-1 win against promoted side Burnley at the Emirates Stadium.
Xhaka has been heavily criticised for his poor disciplinary record over the past week following his second red card of his short Arsenal career so far.
However, the £33m summer signing trained with his Arsenal team-mates on Friday afternoon ahead of their fourth-round clash against Southampton at St Mary’s.
Arsenal will face a Saints side that will be buoyed by their 2-0 aggregate win against Liverpool which booked their place in the EFL Cup final mid-week.
Xhaka posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“👉Today’s training for FA cup match against Southampton. Even though not on the pitch tomorrow, I will be supporting the team for qualification with all my heart and mind. ★★★ ⚓#GX29 @arsenal #IWILL #UnderArmour”
Arsenal are in second place in the Premier League table.
