The Arsenal legend is hoping a banner at the Emirates Stadium will convince Alexis Sanchez to stay

Ian Wright has joked that perhaps an Arsenal banner paying tribute to Alexis Sanchez’s dogs could convince the forward to stay at The Emirates.

The Chile international is facing an uncertain future at the north London club amid ongoing negotiations with Arsenal over a new contract.

Sanchez struck an unhappy figure as the South American showed his dissatisfaction at being substituted with 12 minutes to go in Arsenal’s 4-0 win against Swansea City earlier this month.

The former Udinese forward scored an added-time winner from the penalty spot to help Arsenal ease to a 2-1 win against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Sanchez has now scored 15 times and has made three assists in 21 games in the Premier League this term.

Taking to his Instagram page, Wright optimistically declared that a banner depicting Sanchez’s Golden Retrievers Atom and Humber could convince Sanchez to remain at the north London club.

Wright wrote on the photo-sharing app: “Great to Arsenal fans recognising Atom & Humber. Hopefully that will keep Alexis here. 😂😂😂”
