John Terry has taken to social media to pay tribute to Diego Costa after the striker helped to fire Chelsea to a 2-0 win over Hull City on Sunday.

The Spanish forward netted the Blues’ opener from close range in the first half at Stamford Bridge, before Gary Cahill headed home a second after the break to wrap up the three points.

The victory moved Chelsea eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table after Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham all dropped points over the weekend.

Terry was delighted to see the Blues claim victory on Sunday and also sent a special message to Ryan Mason, who suffered a fractured skull during the game at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea captain Terry posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “Fantastic win again from the boys 👊🏻@chelseafc. A great weekend of results for us.

“Congratulations @diego.costa ⚽️ @garyjcahill ⚽️on your goals.

“I would like to wish @ryan8mason our very best wishes and praying that he will be ok, our thoughts are with Ryan and his family 🙏💙”
