The Chelsea defender was pleased to make a long-awaited return from a knee injury in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon
Kurt Zouma expressed his delight at making a long-awaited return to competitive action at Stamford Bridge after the defender helped Chelsea ease to a 4-1 win against Peterborough in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon.
The France international suffered a serious knee injury during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League in February 2016 which prematurely ended the centre-half’s 2015-16 campaign.
Zouma has been sidelined since picking up the knee problem until the 22-year-old returned to action for Chelsea’s second string and Under-23 side to get valuable minutes ahead of a return to the first team.
The former Saint-Etienne defender helped Antonio Conte’s side ease to a 4-1 win against Peterborough despite captain John Terry receiving a red card in the second half.
Zouma posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“Thanks to all the @chelseafc fans for your support. Really pleased to be back at the bridge ✌🏿👏🏽 @willianborges88 @mbatshuayi 😂”
Chelsea are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and five points clear of second-placed Liverpool after 20 games.
