The Manchester United striker sends a message to Wayne Rooney after his 250th goal for the Red Devils
Marcus Rashford has taken to Instagram to congratulate Wayne Rooney on becoming Manchester United’s record goal-scorer.
The England international scored his 250th strike to surpass Sir Bobby Charlton’s record after the 31-year-old fired an impressive free-kick past Lee Grant to rescue a 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
The Red Devils striker has found his first-team opportunities limited this season, much like Rashford under Louis van Gaal’s successor.
However, the 19-year-old has still managed to score more Premier League goals than Rooney after finding the back of the net three times in 17 appearances in the English top-flight title.
Rashford posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption on his photo-sharing app:
“Record breaker! Well done legend 🔴 @waynerooney”
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table and four points behind Liverpool in the race to secure a top-four finish.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson called time on his reign in 2013.
