Mesut Ozil has taken to Instagram to wish Arsenal and Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny all the best at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The defensive midfielder is currently on international duty at the major tournament as the former Basel midfielder looks to help to inspire his national team to glory at the AFCON.

The 24-year-old Arsenal star has already amassed an impressive 49 caps for the Egypt national team in his career so far, establishing himself as a key part of Hector Cuper’s side.

Elneny moved to Arsenal in a £5m deal from Swiss champions Basel last year as Arsene Wenger sought to bolster his midfield options in the 2016 January transfer window.

The defensive midfielder has scored one goal in 35 appearances for the north London side to become a valuable squad member on Wenger.

And Ozil will be keeping tabs on Elneny’s fortunes at the AFCON after Arsenal’s record signing posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“Hey bro. I wish you best of luck for the African Nation Cup with Egypt 🇪🇬🇪🇬 #Gunners #StayHealthy @elnennym”

Egypt played out a goalless draw with Mali in their opening AFCON fixture.
