The France midfielder sends a message to Manchester United fans following his transfer to Everton on Thursday afternoon

Morgan Schneiderlin has thanked Manchester United fans for their unwavering support after the midfielder moved to Everton on Thursday afternoon.

The France international completed a much-anticipated move to Everton after months of speculation linking the defensive midfielder with a switch to Goodison Park.

Schneiderlin was out-of-favour under Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese coach’s appointment as Louis van Gaal in May.

The 27-year-old was signed in a £25m deal from Southampton in the 2015 summer transfer window after an impressive spell at the south coast club.

The French star scored one goal in 39 appearances in his first season at Old Trafford but fell down the pecking order following the arrival of Paul Pogba in an £89m world-record transfer from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

Schneiderlin became Everton’s first signing in January and the midfielder has taken to his Instagram page to dedicate a special message to the Manchester United supporters.

Schneiderlin wrote: “I would like first to thanks all the fans of Manchester United for their support throughout the 18 months I spend with you.
It was very special, of course I wanted to do more for this football club but it didn’t happen for some reason that I respect .
Secondly I wish the very best for the future to all the players and all the staff of @manchesterunited”

Manchester United finished in fifth place in the table last season.
