Philippe Coutinho celebrated the start of the new year with his wife Aine on Saturday night

Philippe Coutinho seemed to be in good spirits as he toasted the start of 2017 with his wife Aine and their young child.

Coutinho watched his Liverpool team-mates secure a 1-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield on Saturday night as Jurgen Klopp’s men kept up their fine form in the top flight.

The Brazilian playmaker is currently sidelined with an ankle injury but recently returned to training at Melwood as he closes in on his comeback.

Liverpool are currently gearing up for their Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light as the Reds look to claim victory and keep up the pressure on table toppers Chelsea.

And Coutinho looked to be in good shape as he rang in the new year with his wife on Saturday night.

Coutinho shared the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “We wish a happy new year to everyone🙏🏽”
