The Arsenal defenders enjoys a lift thanks to Robert Pires...

Shkodran Mustafi was in high spirits with Arsenal legend Robert Pires as the defender was put through his paces at London Colney on Monday afternoon.

The Germany international has been a big hit at the Emirates Stadium since his £35m move to Arsenal from La Liga side Valencia in last summer’s transfer window.

Arsenal have remained unbeaten with Mustafi in the side as the north London outfit gear up for their trip to Premier League leaders Chelsea at the weekend.

Indeed, the German defender was absent through injury when Arsenal’s long unbeaten run came to an end following a 2-1 loss at Everton before Arsene Wenger’s men suffered a 2-1 defeat by title rivals Manchester City days later.

And Mustafi clearly has a good relationship with Arsenal coach and legend Pires as the retired France midfielder gave the versatile defender a piggy back during training.

Mustafi posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption on the photo-sharing app:

“🔙🔛🔝 Started the week with a good training session… Thanks for carrying me through @robert_pires07 😅👌🏽 #Monday #fun #sm20 @arsenal”
