Simon Mignolet sends a heartfelt message of thanks to Liverpool's fans after the 2-2 draw with Sunderland

Simon Mignolet has thanked Liverpool’s fans for their support despite the disappointment of their 2-2 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Monday afternoon.

The Reds missed the chance to close the gap to Premier League leaders Chelsea down to three points as they were twice pegged back by Jermaine Defoe penalties against David Moyes’ men.

The result left Liverpool five points behind leaders Chelsea ahead of the Blues’ clash with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.

Liverpool’s next Premier League game is a crunch clash against Manchester United on 15 January at Old Trafford.

And Mignolet had a message for Liverpool’s supporters in the wake of the disappointing result against Sunderland.

Mignolet posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “Shame we couldn’t get all 3 points to start 2017. We’ll keep pushing though! Thanks for the support! 🔴👊🏻”
