Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Preston v Arsenal

Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Arsenal's trip to Preston in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday

Mark Lawrenson is tipping Preston North End to hold Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s FA Cup third-round clash at Deepdale.

The Gunners head into the game on the back of the disappointment of their 3-3 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Arsenal battled back from three goals down to earn a point at the Vitality Stadium but with the Gunners trailing Premier League leaders Chelsea by eight points, many fans felt that the result was not good enough.

The north London side will now dust themselves down as they prepare to take on Preston in a bid to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup.

However, former Preston man Lawrenson feels that the home side will pick up a 1-1 draw to force a replay at The Emirates.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “As for Preston against Arsenal, can I just pick my own team to win?

“I would just be happy if we give the Gunners a good game and got a replay. I think we will, because we are extremely competitive. 1-1.”
