Michael Owen states his prediction for Preston v Arsenal
Michael Owen looks ahead to Arsenal's trip to Preston North End in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday
Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to return to winning ways by beating Preston North End in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners head into the game fresh from suffering another setback in their Premier League title bid when they were held to a 3-3 draw by Bournemouth last week.
Arsenal were 3-0 down on Tuesday night but managed to battle back to earn a point in the second half against Eddie Howe’s men.
However, the result still left the Gunners some way off the pace in the race for the Premier League title, with Arsenal now fifth in the table and eight points behind leaders Chelsea.
Despite the setback at the Vitality Stadium, former Liverpool striker Owen is tipping Arsenal to get back to winning ways when they take on Preston North End on Saturday.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Arsenal deserve great credit for coming back from three-nil down at Bournemouth earlier in the week but the first hour was just not good enough defensively for a side challenging for the title.
“The Gunners have a great FA Cup record and I expect them to progress at Deepdale against a Lilywhites side who, themselves, have found the back of the net in their last eight games.”
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League and without a trophy last season.
