Pundit: What I really think about Eden Hazard at Chelsea this season
Phil Thompson delivers his verdict on Eden Hazard at Chelsea under Antonio Conte this season...
Phil Thompson believes that Eden Hazard has re-established himself as Chelsea’s most influential player this season.
The Belgian playmaker, like many of his Chelsea team-mates, struggled to produce consistent performances for the Blues last season as the west London club ended up in 10th place in the Premier League table.
However, the 26-year-old has been in much improved form this term as he looks to try and help Chelsea regain the Premier League title under new manager Antonio Conte.
And former Liverpool star Thompson feels that Hazard is ahead of Diego Costa as Chelsea’s top player so far this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday, Thompson replied when asked who is Chelsea’s most influential player: “I would still stay Eden Hazard.
“I know Costa is scoring the goals but for me Hazard has got his mojo back.
“He’s got his pace and personality back and he’s back to the form his was in before last season.
“He’s everything Roman Abramovich wants from his side, getting you off your seats when he gets the ball. At Chelsea that’s very important thing.
“He’s just been wonderful.”
Chelsea are flying high at the top of the Premier League table as they look to win the title for the first time since their triumph under Jose Mourinho in 2014-15.
The Blues appointed Conte as the club’s new permanent manager in the summer.
