Pundit: Diego Costa has changed at Chelsea this season, I preferred him before
Ray Parlour claims Diego Costa has toned his game down under Antonio Conte at Chelsea this season
Ray Parlour has claimed that Diego Costa has become “too nice” under Antonio Conte at Chelsea this season.
The Spanish striker has been one of the Premier League standout performers this season and has been in fine form for the Blues to help them build a five-point lead at the top of the table.
Costa has scored 14 goals and made five assists in the Premier League for Antonio Conte’s men to help the west London side top the Premier League table.
The Brazilian-born forward has become known for his aggressive style of play since his arrival at Chelsea from Atletico Madrid, and the striker has already picked up five bookings this season.
However, former Arsenal star Parlour feels that Costa has toned down that side of his game in recent weeks, and that his change of approach could end up affecting Chelsea.
Speaking to the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast, Parlour said of Costa: “I like it when he is more aggressive. I think he is too nice now.
“He was pulling out of tackles when a player was about to kick it down the line. That’s not Diego Costa.
“He has tried to calm down because of all the bookings and red cards – but that’s what gets the best out of him.”
