Pundit explains the difference between Chelsea and Liverpool

The former Liverpool captain hails Chelsea's ability to remain in control during moments of vulnerability

Graeme Souness believes Chelsea are better than Liverpool at handling moments of vulnerability in the Premier League title race.

Jurgen Klopp’s side suffered a surprise 3-2 loss to Premier League strugglers Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday afternoon following goals from Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Liverpool have struggled to keep pace with Chelsea in recent months and the Merseyside outfit now trail Antonio Conte’s men by 10 points in the title race following their latest defeat.

Chelsea, on the other hand, were 2-0 winners against relegation candidates Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon despite the visitors putting the leaders under pressure in the second half.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Chelsea’s third successive win in all competitions, former Liverpool captain Souness explained the difference between Conte’s players and Klopp’s side.

“When the team comes and have a defensive attitude and don’t want to win the game, Liverpool can find a way through that and score goals,” Souness said.

“In doing so, they become vulnerable when the game turns and this is the difference between Chelsea and the rest of them.”
