Pundit: Forget about Arsenal’s comeback, Arsene Wenger’s players still can’t win the title
Garth Crooks doesn't expect Arsenal to win the Premier League crown
Garth Crooks says Arsenal’s 3-3 draw with Bournemouth proves that Arsene Wenger’s players won’t win the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners were praised for showing the character to come from 3-0 down to salvage a point against Eddie Howe’s side in the final 15 minutes on Tuesday night.
However, Arsenal missed the chance to significantly close the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea, although the Gunners are eight points adrift of the Blues after Antonio Conte’s men lost 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
The north London side haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and Patrick Vieira helped to fire the Gunners to an incredible unbeaten season.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks poured cold water on dwindling talk of Arsenal winning the Premier League title this season.
“As for Arsenal? As good a comeback as it was I saw all the reasons why I think they cannot, I repeat cannot, win the title,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“They are too busy looking good and simply aren’t ruthless enough.”
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but 10 points behind champions Leicester City.
The Gunners signed five players in the summer transfer window.
