Pundit issues warning to Arsenal about this team ahead of Chelsea clash
Tony Cottee has a message for Arsenal ahead of big games against Watford and Chelsea over the next week
Tony Cottee has warned Arsenal that they must take care of Watford at The Emirates on Tuesday night before allowing themselves to consider next weekend’s trip to Chelsea.
The Gunners will have the chance to make up some ground on the Premier League leaders when Arsene Wenger’s men make the short trip across London to Stamford Bridge next weekend.
However, Arsenal have the small matter of a London derby against Watford on Tuesday night as Walter Mazzarri’s side look to capitalise on what could be a distracted Gunners outfit.
Arsene Wenger’s side were 5-0 winners against a second-string Southampton side in the FA Cup fourth round at St Mary’s on Saturday evening.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Arsenal’s home clash against Watford, Cottee warned the Gunners not to underestimate the Hornets.
“There are 16 games left,” said Cottee.
“If there were six, obviously eight points is too much, but there are still more than enough games there. Chelsea-Arsenal is going to be a key game on Saturday.
“But just as important for Arsenal is to beat Watford – it’s one of those games everybody expects them to win.
“Watford have to be careful themselves and any game in the Premier League is a tough game. To set up the game at the weekend, Arsenal have to beat Watford first.”
Arsenal are in second place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of current leaders Chelsea.
The north London side haven’t won the title since 2003-04.
