Pundit: I’ve never seen this Liverpool midfielder play so poorly
Kevin Kilbane says Jordan Henderson had an off day as Liverpool lost 3-2 to Swansea at the weekend
Kevin Kilbane has claimed that he has never seen Jordan Henderson play so poorly as the Liverpool captain did in a 3-2 loss to Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The England international has been a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team this season following the Liverpool captain’s positional switch to defensive midfield this term.
Henderson misplaced 18 passes during the five-goal thriller as the 26-year-old midfielder finished with a pass completion of 85 per cent and was dispossessed once during the defeat.
Speaking to Irish radio station Newstalk on Monday evening about Henderson’s performance during Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to the relegation candidates, Kilbane spoke about his surprise at the captain’s poor performance.
“I don’t think I’ve seen Jordan Henderson play as bad [as he did on Saturday],” Kilbane said.
“It was one of those games where he kept giving the ball away. He’d make a bad pass and make a bad pass and he was trying to dig himself out of the trouble he was in.”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table in their first campaign under Klopp last season.
Henderson moved to the Merseyside outfit in a £20m deal from Sunderland in 2011.
Liverpool will host Premier League leaders Chelsea in their next top-flight fixture at Anfield on Tuesday 31 January.
