Pundit makes bold prediction about Chelsea and Nathan Ake
Pat Nevin has been impressed with Nathan Ake's performances, adding that the defender could break into the Chelsea side
Nathan Ake has a great chance of securing a place in the Chelsea side under Antonio Conte, according to Pat Nevin.
The Netherlands Under-21 international impressed during a loan spell at Bournemouth in the 2016-17 season after scoring three goals in 10 Premier League appearances despite playing largely as a centre-half for Eddie Howe.
Conte opted to recall the defender from his Bournemouth loan last weekend as the Blues boss opted to bolster his defensive options ahead of the second half of the Premier League season with Chelsea in pole position in the title race.
The Italian has used Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill as a back three with great success since a 3-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in September.
Indeed, Chelsea won 13 games on the bounce before a 2-0 defeat by title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane earlier this month.
Speaking to Irish radio station Newstalk about Ake’s return to Chelsea, Nevin stated that the Dutch defender has a good opportunity to break into the Blues team.
“Chelsea send out a whole bunch of players on loan and people are very negative about it,” Nevin said.
“But look what has happened with Nathan Ake. Nathan Ake will walk back in and he has a right big chance to get into the team.”
