Pundit makes frank admission about Chelsea in title race
Gerry Taggert has admitted that it is difficult to see how Chelsea's title rivals will catch Antonio Conte's men in the title race
Gerry Taggert has admitted that he can’t envisage Chelsea being caught in the Premier League title race.
The Blues haven’t put a foot wrong in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign since a 3-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in September.
Chelsea have won 12 games on the bounce in the Premier League to leave the west London outfit six points clear of their closest rivals Liverpool.
Antonio Conte’s side have beaten Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the title race to underline their status as favourites.
Chelsea have also managed to keep nine clean sheets in 12 victories in the Premier League ahead of the visit of Stoke City on New Year’s Eve.
Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, former Leicester City defender Taggert conceded that Chelsea are looking invincible in the title race.
“If Chelsea are to lose it, you’d think it would be down to a spate of injuries or suspensions,” Taggert said.
“At the moment, they have players who can come in and do the same job and get the same results. It’s difficult to see at the moment where teams can get one up on them.”
Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League table last season.
The Blues signed five players in the summer transfer window in an attempt to bolster their chances of winning the title under Conte.
