Pundit: Man United record signing Paul Pogba isn’t even worth £20m
Irish pundit and ex-Manchester United midfielder Eamon Dunphy delivers blunt verdict on Paul Pogba
Paul Pogba isn’t worth £100m and would have been overpriced if Manchester United had paid £20m for the midfielder, according to Eamon Dunphy.
The France international completed a world-record move to the Red Devils from Serie A champions Juventus in the summer transfer window following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
Pogba made a slow start to the 2016-17 Premier League season after he scored one goal in his opening nine appearances in all competitions for the 20-time English champions.
The Manchester United midfielder enjoyed something of a purple patch during the festive period after he netted two goals and made four assists in eight games over Christmas.
However, Pogba struggled badly during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday after he conceded a first-half penalty and was dispossessed five times.
Speaking to Irish radio station RTE 2FM, former Manchester United midfielder Dunphy didn’t hold back in his assessment of the world-record midfielder.
“Pogba was never worth £100m,” Dunphy said.
“At £20m he would have been expensive. With the money they’ve spent with Mourinho and van Gaal, they should really have a better team.
“Paul Pogba is very immature. He plays like a kid. He is not worth the money they paid for him and he won’t be worth the money they paid for him.
“He is the elephant in the room. He’s useless.”
