Pundit: Mauricio Pochettino needs to make this Tottenham signing
Pat Nevin believes Tottenham Hotspur need to sign cover for Harry Kane
Tottenham Hotspur need to sign cover for Harry Kane in the January transfer window, according to Pat Nevin.
Spurs underlined their status as genuine title contenders on Saturday afternoon thanks to a resounding 4-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane.
Indeed, Kane scored a hat-trick against the Baggies to help hoist Spurs above Liverpool into second place on goal difference.
Tottenham have won their last six Premier League games including a 2-0 victory over Chelsea to put the leaders under some pressure.
Kane has scored 14 times in 16 games in the Premier League this season despite the striker suffering an ankle injury earlier in the season.
Tottenham have been in imperious form since Kane’s return to the side in November and Spurs are now being touted as Chelsea’s biggest rivals for the title.
Speaking to Irish radio station Newstalk on Monday night, Nevin heaped praise on Tottenham but warned Pochettino that cover is required for Kane.
“Looking at Spurs, I can’t see a weakness. Maybe they could do with another two players who can give you back up,” Nevin said.
“Maybe another goal-scorer if Harry Kane gets injured. Other than that in the wide areas and defensive areas, it all seems fine.”
