Pundit replies when asked if Arsenal can catch Chelsea

Pat Nevin discusses Arsenal's hopes of catching Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title this season

Pat Nevin is refusing to rule out the possibility of Arsenal catching Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title.

The Gunners are currently second in the Premier League table and eight points behind their London rivals as they look to reduce the gap to the Blues.

Arsenal are looking to go one better this season and lift the top-flight trophy in May after they finished in second place last term.

Chelsea, however, have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the Premier League title this season thanks to their brilliant form under new boss Antonio Conte.

The Blues take on Liverpool and Arsenal in their next two top flight games, and former Chelsea man Nevin is refusing to rule the Gunners out of the running for the title.

Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk: “I’m not writing them off – no chance.

“I think they’re not absolutely convincing or looking fantastic, but I’m not writing them off.

“Eight points behind Chelsea seems like an awful lot. Chelsea’s next two league games are Liverpool and Arsenal – that could be two points very, very easily.”
