Pundit replies when asked if he would rather play for Liverpool or Man United manager
Dietmar Hamann admits that he would probably have preferred to play for Jose Mourinho than Jurgen Klopp
Dietmar Hamann has admitted that he would probably prefer to play for Jose Mourinho ahead of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Both Klopp and Mourinho are currently getting to grips in their new jobs, with the German arriving at Liverpool in October 2015 and the Portuguese being appointed at Manchester United in the summer of 2016.
Klopp has earned plenty of praise for the impact that he has had at Liverpool following his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor.
Liverpool have been one of the Premier League’s top performing teams this season and currently trail leaders Chelsea by five points.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have recovered from a stuttering start and have won their last six Premier League games on the spin.
However, former Liverpool midfielder Hamann has admitted that he would have probably preferred to play for Mourinho if he had the choice.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday morning, ex-Liverpool man Hamann said: “I always like distance between a manager and a player. I don’t like it when managers get too close and too pally with the players.
“From that perspective, I think I’d rather play for Mourinho. I always wanted somebody who tells players and teams what he wants to do.
“Jurgen Klopp has got a different take and I think now things have changed.
“But I would have liked to have played for both!”
