Pundit tells Man United striker to make January transfer
Tony Gayle wants Marcus Rashford to secure loan move away from Manchester United
Marcus Rashford needs to secure a loan move away from Manchester United to get more Premier League minutes under his belt, according to Tony Gayle.
The teenager burst onto the scene in the 2015-16 Premier League season after Louis van Gaal turned to the striker for Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Arsenal at Old Trafford in February last year.
Rashford finished with impressive figures of eight goals in 18 games in all competitions last term despite the centre-forward’s inexperience at the highest level.
The England international has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford this term, though, after new manager Jose Mourinho signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a free transfer from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Rashford has scored three goals and has made one assist in 16 games in the Premier League this term, although eight of those appearances have come from the bench.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday morning, Gayle urged Rashford to move to another Premier League club on loan to continue his development.
“It’s frustrating in terms of England because you want to see him playing more games. The kid is a talent. What’s his position? On the wide or down the middle? He’s not going to get in front of Zlatan in the middle. He’s got bank on getting appearances on the wing but there is a lot of competition there,” Gayle said.
“I wish he was at a club maybe like West Ham or somewhere like that where he is going to be the big fish. Get him on a loan. He needs a season of football somewhere. He needs some games now because the talent is there.”
