Pundit tells Man United to sign up this player immediately
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that Manchester United should do everything they can to try and extend Zlatan Ibrahimovic's contract
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has urged Manchester United to do what they can to extend Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s stay at the club.
The Swedish striker has been a regular fixture in the Red Devils’ first team since his arrival at Old Trafford from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer.
There had been doubts about whether Ibrahimovic would be able to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League in the latter stages of his career but he has proved his critics wrong by scoring 14 goals in the top flight for Jose Mourinho’s men so far this season.
Manchester United have the option to extend the Swedish striker’s stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer.
And former Chelsea star Ibrahimovic has urged the Red Devils to snap up the chance to extend the 35-year-old’s stay at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Thursday, Hasselbaink said: “I would definitely extend it. I don’t know if I’d give him two years at 35.
“He has been so important for Manchester United: his presence, his positiveness and the amount of work that he does. He is helping the younger players and they have got some younger players coming through. He has scored 14 goals – it’s not nothing.
“He is still hungry for more. When you hear him speak, he says he wants to prove something. That’s what comes out of his sentences. He still wants to prove people wrong and win things. That’s what Manchester United need.”
Manchester United are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table.
