Pundit: This midfielder looks more comfortable at Chelsea than Barcelona
Garth Crooks has been impressed with Pedro Rodriguez's performances for Chelsea so far this season
Pedro Rodriguez looks more comfortable in the Chelsea team than when the winger played for Barcelona, according to Garth Crooks.
The Spain international scored Chelsea’s third goal in their 3-0 win against defending Premier League champions Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.
Pedro has scored five goals and has made five assists in 18 games in the Premier League this season to help Chelsea soar to the top of the table after 21 games so far.
Only Diego Costa and Eden Hazard have scored more goals than Pedro for Antonio Conte’s men in the Premier League so far this season.
Writing in his BBC Sport column, former Tottenham forward Crooks suggested that Pedro has now found his feet at Chelsea after his move from Barcelona in the 2015 summer transfer window.
“Pedro has won every trophy a player could win for club and country, but I can’t remember when I have seen him play better for a team or look as comfortable as he currently does with Chelsea,” Crooks said.
“Blues manager Antonio Conte played a masterstroke against Leicester by using Willian, Eden Hazard and Pedro up front in order to replace Diego Costa – but the reaction from Pedro, in particular, was immense.”
Pedro scored seven times in 29 games in his first season in the Premier League after his £21m move from La Liga giants Barcelona in the 2016-17 campaign.
