Pundit urges Jurgen Klopp to make two Liverpool signing to boost title bid
Kevin Kilbane explains why Jurgen Klopp needs to improve his Liverpool squad's depth
Jurgen Klopp needs to sign two players in the January transfer window if Liverpool are going to have a realistic chance of winning the Premier League title this term, according to Kevin Kilbane.
The Reds signed seven players in the summer transfer window after Klopp led the Merseyside outfit to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League table last season.
The Liverpool manager brought in Sadio Mane in a £34m deal from Southampton, Georginio Wijnaldum arrived in a £25m switch from Newcastle United and Joel Matip in a free transfer from Schalke 04.
The Merseyside outfit have made an impressive start to the 2016-17 season after winning 13 and drawing six of their opening 21 games.
Former Everton and Republic of Ireland international Kilbane emphasised the need for Klopp to add greater depth to their squad in the January transfer window.
“The depth of the squad is a problem for them. That is something he needs to address now. If they’re going to be serious contenders this season, he’s got to get two signings in to address the size of the squad and the issues that he has got there,” Kilbane told Irish radio station Newstalk.
Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table and seven points adrift of current leaders Chelsea.
The Reds have never won the Premier League title.
