Pundit: Victor Wanyama isn’t good enough for Tottenham
Ex-midfielder Eamon Dunphy doesn't rate Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama in Mauricio Pochettino's side
Victor Wanyama isn’t good enough for Tottenham Hotspur, according to Eamon Dunphy.
The Kenya international helped the north London side ease to a 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The African star has formed a formidable partnership with Belgium international Mousa Dembele in the heart of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The 24-year-old moved to Tottenham in a £11m deal from Southampton in the summer transfer window as one of Pochettino’s five new signings.
Wanyama has scored two goals in 21 appearances in the 2016-17 Premier League season so far.
Speaking to RTE 2fm’s podcast Game On, former midfielder Dunphy admitted that he hasn’t been impressed with Wanyama.
“I wouldn’t have Wanyama. I don’t think he’s good enough to play in that team,” Dunphy said.
Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
Spurs will make the trip to Manchester City in their next top-flight fixture at The Etihad on Saturday evening.
Pochettino’s side finished in third place in the table and 11 points behind champions Leicester City last term.
