Pundit warns Chelsea about Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp’s squad keep answering their critics
The former Chelsea striker has been impressed with Liverpool's performances in recent weeks
Liverpool will be ready to capitalise if Chelsea should falter in the Premier League title race, according to Chris Sutton.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have managed to recover from a small blip in December to win their last four Premier League games either side of Christmas.
Liverpool were 1-0 winners against title rivals Manchester City at Anfield on New Year’s Eve thanks to Georginio Wijnaldum’s first-half header.
Chelsea have been in imperious form in recent months and the Blues edged to a 4-2 victory over Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues are hoping to notch up a record-equalling 14th successive Premier League win on Wednesday night when Chelsea host title rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Questions have been asked of Klopp’s goalkeeper, defence and squad size in the title race in recent months.
However, Sutton believes Liverpool have emphatically answered their critics.
“Liverpool keep answering all the questions that are thrown at Klopp and his Liverpool team, such as they’re going to fall away, they’ve got problems with their goalkeeper and defence,” Sutton told BBC Radio’s 606 podcast.
“They keep answering these again and again and again. Thats why Liverpool will take advantage if Chelsea do slip up.”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Klopp took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015.
