Pundit: What Tottenham are missing under Mauricio Pochettino
Jermaine Jenas says Tottenham Hotspur have to deliver with silverware after making progress under Mauricio Pochettino
Jermaine Jenas has challenged Tottenham Hotspur to cap their progress under Mauricio Pochettino with a trophy.
The north London side have enjoyed a positive couple of weeks after Tottenham became the first team to beat Chelsea in 13 Premier League games after a 2-0 win at White Hart Lane last week.
Dele Alli scored either side of half-time against the Premier League leaders to hoist Spurs above Arsenal and Manchester City into third place in the title race.
Tottenham booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon after a 2-0 victory over Championship outfit Aston Villa thanks to goals from Ben Davies and Son Heung-min.
The Lilywhites challenged Leicester City for the title throughout most of the 2015-16 season before falling away in the final weeks of the campaign.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the north London club’s FA Cup third-round win, Jenas demanded that his former club cement their improving status with some silverware this term.
“This year Tottenham have taken Manchester City to the cleaners, beaten Chelsea and were the better team against Manchester United for 60 minutes.
“A trophy is the obvious thing they are missing. The big thing Mauricio Pochettino has changed is the mentality. It’s about delivering it now.”
Tottenham signed five players in the summer transfer window.
