Pundit’s response when asked whether Tottenham striker would get into Barcelona side
Owen Hargreaves discusses whether Tottenham's Harry Kane would get in the Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid side
Harry Kane wouldn’t get into the Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid team despite his prolific form in the Premier League, according to Owen Hargreaves.
The England international scored a hat-trick in Tottenham’s 4-0 win against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon as the 23-year-old took his tally to 14 goals in 16 games in the Premier League campaign.
Kane finished as the English top-flight’s leading goal-scorer last season after the centre-forward found the back of the net 25 times in 37 outings for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The Tottenham striker signed a new long-term deal with the north London side in December to make him one of the best-paid players at White Hart Lane.
The England man is thought to be earning £100,000 a week and is set to stay at Tottenham until 2022.
Speaking to BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Hargreaves was asked whether Kane would command a place in a top European side such as Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Hargreaves said: “No, of course he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t get into Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern. But he’s in the perfect place to grow. He’s shown in the last couple of seasons that he’s capable of being one of the best. But there are still players just that little bit ahead of him.”
Tottenham finished in third place last season.
