Robbie Keane: Eden Hazard the difference between Chelsea and Tottenham
Tottenham need a player like Gareth Bale or Eden Hazard to win the Premier League title, according to Robbie Keane
Robbie Keane believes Tottenham Hotspur could win the Premier League title if Mauricio Pochettino had a player like Gareth Bale or Chelsea star Eden Hazard in his squad.
The north London side produced the performance of the weekend after Tottenham were 4-0 winners against West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane courtesy of Harry Kane’s hat-trick.
Chelsea, on the other hand, eased to a 3-0 victory over defending champions Leicester City in spite of the absence of their prolific goal-scorer Diego Costa with a back injury.
Costa and Kane have both scored 14 goals in the 2016-17 Premier League season so far.
However, ex-Tottenham striker Keane has claimed that the difference between the two clubs is that Antonio Conte can call on a player of Eden Hazard’s ilk.
Keane told talkSPORT: “I think they are maybe one player away from challenging.
“If Gareth Bale was still there now, they would have a great chance of winning it.
“If you look at Chelsea they have Costa, who is going to score a lot of goals. Him and Harry Kane are similar but Chelsea have Eden Hazard, who is different. He is a special, special talent and a world class player.
“If Tottenham had a Bale, they would have a chance. But they will maybe just miss out. Chelsea at this moment in time just look so strong.”
Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and seven points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
Spurs will make the trip to title rivals Manchester City in their next Premier League game at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.
