Robbie Keane: There’s no difference between world-class Chelsea striker and Harry Kane

The former Spurs striker heaps praise on Harry Kane

Robbie Keane believes Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is as good as Chelsea centre-forward Diego Costa.

The Spain international was the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer after netting 14 times in 19 games before he missed Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.

However, Kane is now level on 14 goals with Costa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexis Sanchez after the Tottenham star scored a hat-trick in Tottenham’s 4-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane.

The 23-year-old has netted 14 times in just 16 games in the Premier League this season to help Mauricio Pochettino’s side hoist themselves up to second place in the table and seven points behind Chelsea.

Former Tottenham striker Keane heaped praise on Kane after the Spurs man’s prolific start to the 2016-17 season.

“Harry Kane is a proper striker,” Keane told talkSPORT.

“He can play high up, he can come deep and get on the ball. Ultimately, you are judged on scoring goals and he is scoring a lot of goals.

“If you say Diego Costa is world class, what is the difference between him and Harry? They score a similar amount of goals.

“I think in the next few years Harry could go on to become an all-time great in the Premier League. He is certainly on his way.”
