Sol Campbell assesses Arsenal’s chances of catching Chelsea
Sol Campbell discusses Arsenal's hopes of catching Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title this season
Sol Campbell has admitted that Chelsea look like they are running away with the Premier League title – but says Arsenal could still catch the Blues.
The west London side have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the top-flight trophy this season thanks to their brilliant form under new boss Antonio Conte.
Chelsea are currently eight points clear of second-placed Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table as they bid to win the title this season.
However, the Blues take on Liverpool and Arsenal in their next two games as they prepare themselves for a stern test of their title credentials.
Campbell feels that Chelsea are the clear favourites to lift the trophy in May but refused to rule his former team out of the running.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Monday morning, Campbell said: “Arsenal have got the quality to win trophies, they’ve won a couple of FA Cups, but when it comes to the Premier League it’s all about stamina.
“Week-in-week-out, rain or shine, difficult games, not playing well and getting through that and a little bit of rub of the green.
“They’ve got the talent, but at the moment the trouble is Chelsea are running away with it. They [Chelsea] have got 55 points and the stats would say no one has ever lost it, but you never know.”
Arsenal finished second and without a trophy last season, while Chelsea ended up 10th.
