Sol Campbell: What needs to happen between Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez
Sol Campbell is offering Alexis Sanchez and Arsenal some advice on the negotiation process
Sol Campbell has urged Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez to reach a compromise about the forward’s new deal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Chile international is still facing an uncertain future at the north London club after both parties entered into contract negotiations last year.
Sanchez is thought to be holding out for £250,000 a week along with his fellow Arsenal team-mate Mesut Ozil as the pair look to improve their current £150,000-a-week deals.
The 28-year-old has scored 15 times and has made seven assists in 22 games in the Premier League this season.
Indeed, Sanchez netted an added-time winner from the penalty spot to rescue a 2-1 win against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, former Arsenal defender Campbell offered both Arsenal and Sanchez some advice in terms of the negotiation process.
“There is a lot of things going on behind the scenes,” Campbell said.
“It’s all about cutting a deal. Sometimes compromising. Depending on how far the deal goes, it could be him or the club compromising. Who knows! Everybody is out there to get the deal done.”
Arsenal are in second place in the Premier League table and eight points behind current leaders Chelsea.
Sanchez moved to Arsenal in a £35m deal from Barcelona in 2014.
