Steve McManaman casts doubt on Liverpool signing this goalkeeper
The former Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder doesn't anticipate Jurgen Klopp signing Joe Hart
Steve McManaman doesn’t believe Liverpool would want to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the England number one after unconvincing performances from Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet in the 2016-17 season so far.
Klopp signed Karius in a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga side Mainz in the summer transfer window but the 23-year-old has struggled when handed a starting spot in the Liverpool side.
Hart moved on loan to Serie A side Torino in the summer transfer window after the England shot stopper was deemed surplus to requirements at the Eastlands outfit.
Torino are in ninth place in the Serie A table after conceding 31 times from 21 games in the Italian top flight.
Speaking to BT Sport about speculation linking Hart with a move to Liverpool, former Manchester City winger McManaman played down the chances of Klopp signing Hart.
“I don’t think Liverpool would take him either. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a great goalkeeper but in this moment, I don’t think they’d want him,” McManaman said.
Liverpool are in fourth place in the Premier League table and eight points behind leaders Chelsea.
