Steve McManaman looked for the positives after Liverpool's 3-2 loss to Swansea on Saturday...
Steve McManaman has told Liverpool fans that they have plenty of reasons to be positive despite the disappointment of their shock 3-2 loss to Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men suffered a blow to their Premier League title hopes after the Swans scored three second-half goals at Anfield to condemn the Reds to a surprise loss.
Liverpool are looking to at least finish in the top four this season in what is Klopp’s first full campaign in charge of the Reds.
The Merseyside outfit finished eighth in the table last season as they endured a frustrating campaign.
There was bound to be plenty of disappointment around Anfield on Saturday as the Reds dropped three points in the title race.
However, former Liverpool midfielder McManaman was staying positive despite the defeat on Merseyside.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game on Saturday, McManaman said: “It’s a ridiculous thing to say that Liverpool are going to finish sixth. You can’t be a real fan if you think like that…
“Liverpool would have taken top four. They finished eighth last season. They’re doing remarkably well this year. They’ve got a semi-final on Wednesday. They could easily come back and get to Wembley.
“You don’t start saying we’re going to finish sixth and being all negative.”
Liverpool are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table after the weekend’s round of games.
