Steven Gerrard: What I really think about Wayne Rooney at Man United

Steven Gerrard delivers his verdict on Wayne Rooney's career at Manchester United

Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on Wayne Rooney for the impact he has had at Manchester United following his record-breaking goal for the Red Devils on Saturday.

The England striker scored his 250th goal for the Red Devils to earn Manchester United a 1-1 draw against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The strike placed Rooney as Manchester United’s all-time top goal-scorer after his goal put him ahead of Sir Bobby Charlton’s tally of 249.

Liverpool legend Gerrard played alongside Rooney for many years at international level for England.

The former midfielder had nothing but praise for Rooney following his record-breaking goal against Stoke on Saturday.

Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday night, ex-midfielder Gerrard said: “You’re talking about a phenomenal footballer and an incredible person as well.

“What he’s done for the game, the Premier League and our country is nothing short of magnificent. He deserves all the praise and the plaudits. People will realise how phenomenal is once he’s gone. That’s sad really.

“Manchester United fans should enjoy him while he’s here because they’ll find it very difficult to find another one.”
