Thierry Henry: I’m in awe of this Liverpool player
Thierry Henry admits that he is a huge admirer of Liverpool star Roberto Firmino after his display at Old Trafford
Thierry Henry has admitted that he is a huge admirer of Liverpool star Roberto Firmino following his performance for the Reds in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Firmino has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking talents following his arrival at Liverpool from Hoffenheim.
The Brazil international was in fine form for the Reds as Liverpool earned a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford at the weekend.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic ended up cancelling out James Milner’s first-half penalty at Old Trafford as the Reds earned a point against their bitter local rivals.
However, it was Firmino’s display that particularly caught the eye of Arsenal legend Henry on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Henry said: “He is Jurgen Klopp’s favourite player.
“Not because he has the quality of a [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic but what he does in midfield is outstanding.
“On Sunday, I was in awe of what he was doing – at times it was too much. The way he bends his run forces United to play it back.”
Sunday’s draw left Liverpool in third place in the Premier League table and seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are a further five points back in sixth place.
