Thierry Henry reacts to Diego Costa’s display in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Hull
Thierry Henry praises Diego Costa following his solid display for Chelsea against Hull City
Thierry Henry praised Diego Costa for doing his talking on the pitch as he fired Chelsea to a 2-0 win over Hull City at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Brazilian-born forward has been in the headlines over the last week or so after he was left out of the Chelsea team for their 3-0 win over Leicester City last weekend.
Costa missed that win amid reports that he had a training-ground bust-up with coaching staff at Cobham.
However, the striker returned to the starting line-up for the Blues’ Premier League clash with Hull at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
And Costa kept up his fine form in the Premier League when he scored from close range on the stroke of half-time to put Chelsea ahead against the Tigers.
And Gary Cahill made it 2-0 when he headed home Cesc Fabregas’ cross in the 81st minute.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Sunday, Henry delivered his verdict on Costa’s performance for the west London side.
Henry said: “Whether it was China or his back injury, [Costa is saying:] ‘carry on talking guys, I will do my job. Whether I will be here next year or not, that’s what I do.’
“What he does is what we want him to do and what Chelsea fans want – he scores. So carry on talking.”
Chelsea’s win left them eight points clear of second-placed Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.
