Thierry Henry: The one thing I really like about Antonio Conte at Chelsea
The former Arsenal striker praises Antonio Conte for putting his pride to one side and bring Diego Costa back into the Chelsea line-up
Thierry Henry has praised Antonio Conte for putting his pride to one side and restoring Diego Costa to his starting line-up for the sake of Chelsea’s title bid.
The Spain international scored Chelsea’s opener in a 2-0 win against a stubborn Hull City side at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon after the 28-year-old netted from close-range in the seventh minute of added time in the first half.
Costa was absent for Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium earlier this month due to a back injury, although reports suggested that the controversial forward had fallen out with Conte over interest from China.
However, the former Atletico Madrid forward returned to first-team training last week before his 15th goal in the Premier League season.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Hull on Sunday afternoon, Henry lavished praise on Conte for showing the right character to put his differences to one side and bring Costa back into the fold at Stamford Bridge.
“One thing I like about the interview, we don’t know what happens but you can see that he put his pride to one side, because he keeps on saying he made the decision that is important for the team. Maybe not for him,” Henry told Sky Sports.
“He took the decision that is important for team. He put his pride to one side and that is very important.”
