Michael Owen states his prediction for Tottenham v Aston Villa

Michael Owen looks ahead to Tottenham's FA Cup third-round clash with Aston Villa on Sunday

Michael Owen is tipping Tottenham to continue their good form by beating Aston Villa to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites have been flying high in recent weeks and head into the game on the back of their brilliant 2-0 win over Premier League leaders Chelsea at White Hart Lane last week.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men secured a win over the Blues thanks to Dele Alli’s headers either side of half-time as the Lilywhites became the first team to beat Chelsea in 13 games in the Premier League.

Spurs now turn their attentions to FA Cup affairs and former Liverpool striker Owen can’t see the Lilywhites struggling against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane this weekend.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Villa have improved under Steve Bruce but they still have a long way to go before they can be considered promotion candidates in the Championship.

“Mauricio Pochettino will shuffle his pack but he must be thrilled with how his team have bounced back after what was a disappointing Champions League campaign earlier in the season.”
