Paul Merson states his prediction for Tottenham v West Brom

The former Arsenal midfielder is confident Tottenham Hotspur will beat West Brom at White Hart Lane on Saturday evening

Paul Merson is confident Tottenham Hotspur will find a way to get past West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites have been in excellent form in recent weeks thanks to five successive Premier League victories to hoist Mauricio Pochettino’s side up to third place in the table behind Chelsea and Liverpool.

Tottenham were 2-0 victory over current leaders Chelsea at White Hart Lane earlier this month after Dele Alli scored either either of half-time to end the west London side’s 13-game winning run.

Spurs are looking to improve on their third-place finish in the Premier League table after Tottenham challenged eventual title winners Leicester City for the crown throughout most of the 2015-16 season.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson can’t see past a Tottenham win in Saturday’s early kick-off in the Premier League.

“Spurs are flying at the moment and playing well, but this was the game that pretty much lost them the league last year when they drew 1-1,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“It will be a hard game but I expect Spurs to win. Dele Alli is in great form and I was very impressed with the way they beat Chelsea. Spurs had to win and they played well.

“West Brom could easily have got draws at Arsenal and Chelsea so it will be difficult for Spurs, but I think they will win.”

Tottenham signed five players in the Premier League table as Mauricio Pochettino looked to transform Spurs into title winners.

Spurs are unbeaten in the Premier League at White Hart Lane this season.
