Watch: Paul Pogba sends heartfelt message to midfielder after Man United exit

Paul Pogba was Manchester United team-mates with Memphis Depay for a couple of months

Paul Pogba has dedicated an emotional Instagram message to Memphis Depay after the midfiedler swapped Manchester United for Lyon.

The Netherlands international completed a big-money move to the Ligue 1 side on Friday afternoon after struggling to make an impression at the 20-time English champions over the past 18 months.

Memphis moved to the Red Devils in a £25m deal from Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven in May 2015 but the winger failed to make an impression under his former national team head coach Louis van Gaal.

The attacking midfielder’s fortunes didn’t improve following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Manchester United manager following the arrival of Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Memphis scored seven goals in 53 appearances in all competitions during his stay at Old Trafford.

While Pogba has only been team-mates with Memphis a matter of months, the Manchester United midfielder posted the above clip on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption on the photo-sharing app:

“I wish you all the best my brother, we see each other again soon 👊🏾
All the best brother, we’ll see eachother soon 👊🏾”
