Ian Wright states prediction for Watford v Tottenham

The former Arsenal striker believes Tottenham Hotspur will beat Watford on New Year's Day

Ian Wright is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will ease to victory over Watford in the Premier League on New Year’s Day.

The Lilywhites will be hoping to build on their impressive run of form in the Premier League after three successive top-flight wins.

Tottenham bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Manchester United with victories over Swansea City and Burnley at White Hart Lane.

Spurs showed their character to come from 1-0 down to beat Southampton 4-1 at St Mary’s courtesy of goals from Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Watford, meanwhile, secured a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Boxing Day to deny Sam Allardyce an opening win as Eagles manager.

Speaking to The Sun Goals podcast, Wright was emphatic in his assessment of Tottenham’s prospects of beating Watford.

“Spurs to win,” Wright said.

Tottenham started the weekend in fifth place in the Premier League table and a point behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
