Wes Brown: What Zlatan Ibrahimovic has brought to Man United
The former Manchester United defender hails Zlatan Ibrahimovic's impact at Old Trafford
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has given Manchester United much-needed confidence under Jose Mourinho, according to Wes Brown.
The former Sweden international netted an 84th-minute equaliser at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon after he steered a header past Simon Mignolet to cancel out James Milner’s opener from the spot.
Ibrahimovic has scored 14 times in 19 games in the Premier League this season after the 34-year-old moved to Manchester United in a free transfer from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
The centre-forward’s prolific form has played a big part in Manchester United’s impressive unbeaten run, which Ibrahimovic protected with his late equaliser against Liverpool.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday morning, Brown highlighted the impact that Ibrahimovic has had on the Manchester United squad since his summer move.
“When you’re playing at the back, you’ve got your striker putting the ball in the net. The confidence goes throughout the team. You start to play well. It runs throughout the team. Ibrahimovic is showing that at the moment. Everyone is taking that from his example,” Brown said.
Ibrahimovic scored 38 times in 32 games in Ligue 1 last term as he won his fourth top-flight title with PSG.
Manchester United are currently in sixth place and 12 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.
