Zlatan Ibrahimovic reveals special treatment from Jose Mourinho at Man United
Zlatan Ibrahimovic credits Jose Mourinho for designing a specific training regime for him at Manchester United
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has credited Jose Mourinho for designing a specific fitness regime to keep him fit during his first season with Manchester United.
The 35-year-old striker has been ever-present in the Manchester United side this term despite initial concerns about whether he would be able to adapt to the rigours of English football in the twilight years of his career.
Ibrahimovic has been in fine form in the Premier League for Mourinho’s men and has scored 13 goals and made three assists in 19 games so far this season.
The Swedish forward was voted as Manchester United’s player of the month for December after a sparkling start to life at Old Trafford.
And the veteran striker has lifted the lid on how Mourinho has set about making sure he is in the best physical shape.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Ibrahimovic said: “I feel good. I feel in shape.
“The boss has made a good programme for me since the start. He has been adapting my physical point of view and the way I can play every game. He has to get the credit for that.
“The mixture between training, recovery and the game, I do it differently, and he set it up for me. So that’s why I can hold out for so long.
“And, when you have a body like me, it’s not a normal body. It’s like when you see an animal. It goes in and is fresh always so I see myself as an animal.”
Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season and are currently sixth in the table.
