Zlatan Ibrahimovic: This Man United star is the complete player, I don’t see anyone like him
The Manchester United striker speaks of his huge admiration for Wayne Rooney
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hailed Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney as “a complete player.”
The 31-year-old English striker became the club’s record goal-scorer on Saturday afternoon after Rooney scored an added-time equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Stoke City.
The Manchester United captain’s sensational free-kick was his 250th strike of his Red Devils career to take the centre-forward past Sir Bobby Charlton’s record for the club.
Rooney has only scored twice in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign after finding his first-team opportunities limited following Ibrahimovic’s move to Old Trafford from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
However, the former Sweden international has made no secret of his admiration for Rooney after the Manchester United striker’s impressive set-piece strike.
“Everybody knows what Wayne is. But this country has to appreciate him,” Ibrahimovic is quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.
“I don’t see any other strikers like him today. Give me some names. Tell me. And still you’re not happy.
“He’s a complete player. It’s a big thing you know. Many great players have been here and his name is right on top.”
Ibrahimovic has scored 14 times in 21 games in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.
The former Swedish striker has also made three assists for his Manchester United team-mates.
The 20-time English champions are in sixth place in the Premier League table and 14 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
