Zlatan Ibrahimovic: What I thought of this incredible Man United goal
The Manchester United striker says he was happy to be involved in Henrikh Mkhitaryan's incredible scorpion goal
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken of his happiness at playing a part in Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s incredible scorpion goal for Manchester United last month.
The Armenia international managed to contort his body to guide Ibrahimovic’s cross past Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the final minutes of Manchester United’s 2-1 win against the Black Cats at Old Trafford.
Mkhitaryan’s memorable strike scooped the Premier League goal of the month for December as the £30m summer signing netted his second top-flight goal following his move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Ibrahimovic was full of praise for the attacking midfielder and spoke about his pride at playing a part in the unique strike ahead of the visit of Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Ibrahimović, speaking to EASPORTS.com, said: “It was an amazing goal. I mean, it’s a goal you cannot describe or even really dream about.
“You can, but to make it real is much more difficult. I’m happy for him because it’s a goal that people will remember forever.
“I’m also happy because I was involved in it. So I’m happy for him and for the fans, because when the fans get to see a goal like that, it is something amazing – it’s the beauty of the game.”
Mkhitaryan was the third of Manchester United’s four summer signings after Jose Mourinho took over the reins from Louis van Gaal in May.
The Red Devils will host bitter rivals Manchester United in their next Premier League fixture at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
